The DWP is currently carrying out a major refurbishment programme to form Jobcentre Plus offices
that provide a full integrated work and benefits service. NS Solutions have developed the DWP Estates Database to record financial information for the Jobcentre Plus roll out. The simple to use application produces reports on budget, commitment and expenditure which aid assessing financial progress of the roll out on an individual site, regional and national scale. The DWP required a tool that worked with their current financial systems, as well as avoiding the expense of purchasing a larger commercial off the shelf (COTS) product or using a large IT service provider. As such, the system was developed using Visual Basic and an Access database. |

Design Rationale are an engineering company that provide Modular Guidance Systems Design,
Supply & Installation of Specialist Interior Fittings, Architectural Metalwork and Specialist
Joinery. They have a large and varied client base and are involved in numerous BAA projects, installing a wide range of products to enhance the airports around the country. Design Rationale wanted a financial planning system that was accessible to themselves, to a lesser extent their clients and potentially in the future, their own suppliers. Since the clients could not access the DR servers for security reasons, the application was developed for the internet and access is granted through the login and credential page. Active Server Pages (ASP) were used as the data needed to be dynamic and up to date. The web-app that NS Solutions provided, tracks many aspects of Design Rationale's projects, from the estimating stage providing information for tendering down to fine detail if required, through to the final invoicing to clients. Timesheet recording and analysis is also a provision of the system, this being one area clients are permitted to enter data. |

Football Village are a company who supply football kit to the smaller league
football clubs. They can cater from the smallest clubs to well established ones with several
squads. They provide kit for matches and training and also equipment including training aids. NS Solutions developed a simple web site that would attract Football Village's customers and enable them to browse and order for their individual needs. Due to the policy of their suppliers, they were required to have some human contact during the purchasing process, so a shopping basket system was not going to be ideal. Therefore, the ordering is carried out via phone, fax or an automated email system. The web site was developed in ASP with a database back end to cater for the dynamic nature of the data and stock. |

Elemis is a beauty therapy company providing a lifestyle brand of aromatherapy products
and treatments. To support the consultants during therapy sessions, a web based application
was developed to aid determining which products and treatments a client may need. At the
end of a consultation, each client receives a printed document outlining products and
therapies recommended, based on the consultation information entered into the system.
All previous conultations are recorded and comparisons can be made at regular intervals. The web application was developed in ASP with a database back end (links to MS Access and a SQL Server database). As well as Elemis salons in the UK, the application has been distributed onto several cruise ships where Elemis have salons. |
